It’s easy to find a great fishing spot in your areajust get on Wildblue and search for fishing chats, bait shops and concentrations of fish camps. If you’re new to the sport you need more than a destination, though, so don’t forget to stock up on the following before you hit the water:
Bait: Depending on what you’re fishing for you’ll need all types of bait. Trout fishermen prefer small lizards or even canned corn, but nearly anything will do in a pinch. Worms are also popular but you’ll need to stop by a bait shop to get them fresh and squirmy.
Sun-Protection: Most fishermen neglect to take proper care and if you’re lake or ocean fishing you can get quite a burn! You’ll need at least SPF 45 or higher and a wide-brimmed hat which can actually be double duty if you purchase one that can hold your hooks.
The Right Pole: The most important piece of equipment a fisherman needs is his pole. Speak to someone at an outdoor store about what you need and be sure to pick one that feels good in your hand, not too heavy and not too light.
