This outdoor activity can be a great way to spend quality family time or if you’re not careful can be quite the disaster. Fishing like many hobbies may not be for everyone, while it is probably not the greatest idea to take your little “diva” down to the lake and toss her a pole with a fat wiggly worm squirming about, this particular pastime is loved by many. Not sure your kids will enjoy it as much as you do, keep a few things in mind to make the trip a little more enjoyable for everyone. The whole story can be found at http://techweev.com/2011/09/01/camping-is-an-outdoor-recreational-activity/
Be realistic.
Children have a much shorter attention span, and if the fish are not biting they are likely to get bored and fast. Depending on their age make time for swimming or wading in the water if the weather permits, skipping stones or just a little freedom to explore.
Come prepared.
Make sure you have plenty of food and drinks if you plan on being out awhile. If you are going to be out on a boat make sure you have a plan for bathroom breaks, because it doesn’t matter where you are when nature calls you have to answer. Sunscreen and first aid supplies are important, for everyone.
Keep it simple.
Bring along just the basic tackle that the kids can handle easily with fewer tangles and mishaps. They may get frustrated trying to manage gear that is too complicated for them. You will also want to enjoy the time spent with them, rather than constantly adjusting this or fixing that.
Get creative.
You could make it a contest, try to see who can cast the farthest or catch the most or biggest fish, many kids love competition. Most little ones are great at making up games let them call the shots.
